About Barbara Gamez

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the past 11 years with 27 years overall experience, I have found that people need someone at some point in their life to help them face difficult life challenges, circumstances or past traumatic experiences that are preventing them from reaching their goals or full potential. I believe that Everyone has positive attributes about themselves but sometimes they do not know how to find that inner strength or access it in order to move forward. I believe in empowering people and helping them to discover their true self- worth and develop coping skills to cope with those difficult life circumstances. This begins by building a strong relationship between the patient and therapist, which I feel is most important.

Throughout my years of experience, I have worked in a variety of settings which include home health care, education, juvenile justice, outpatient behavioral health clinic, group/private practice and outpatient mental health care with individuals, families, and groups. I use a variety of treatment approaches to fit the individual needs of the person, so they can gain the tools that they need to succeed. Some of these approaches include, person centered, motivational interviewing, solution focused, strength -based, cognitive- behavioral therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy and cognitive processing therapy.

I have over 18 years of experience working with children of all ages but am currently working with ages 12 through adult. Some of the issues that I treat are post- traumatic stress disorder, ADHD, behavioral issues, anxiety, depression, anger management, Bi-polar, women’s issues, relationship issues, stress, family conflict, bereavement, adjustment issues and parenting concerns.

Take that first step and schedule an appointment in a safe, open and non-judgemental environment. I look forward to hearing from you!
