About Carissa Toviessi, LCSW

Therapeutic Approaches: Therapy is not a one-fits-all approach and should tailor toward the individual, I, therefore, use a variety of therapies; Cognitive-behavioral therapy, person-centered solution-focused, client-centered, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness, relaxation techniques, motivational interviewing.

Approach/Philosophy: Often life struggles leave us feeling overwhelmed and hopeless making us feel out of control of our wellbeing. It is my greatest passion to aid my clients in instilling that hope through empowerment, education and guidance I believe that everyone has the ability to find inner peace and strength to overcome these obstacles.

I have a client-centered approach and will work with you to drive your own destiny through a collaborative approach. I believe with the proper support you can grow, learn, and recover. This can be accomplished through exploration, problem-solving, identify achievable goals, and making a plan of action for achieving those goals. I am excited to walk the journey with you to gain control over your life.

About me: In addition to my passion to counsel I enjoy enhancing my skills through being a career student in search of knowledge through reading, attending, and participating in workshops and seminars. I am a cultural lover who enjoys art, museums, and I believe wholeheartedly in self-care and personal development and spend a lot of my leisure time practicing yoga, meditation, taking long walks and cuddles with my dogs, and spending time with my teenage daughters and friends.
