About Claire Friedman, M.D.

Claire specializes in treating children and adolescents in psychiatry and has been doing so since finishing her training in child and adolescent psychiatry. She combines different approaches for each individual but often it includes psychotherapy and/or pharmacotherapy. She has worked in a large community mental health clinic in the past and has handled many school behavioral issues. She has experience with emergency psychiatry as well serving as the emergency room psychiatrist at a large psychiatric hospital in Houston, TX. She treats mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders as well as ADHD.

Claire was born in Houston, TX and has been a resident of Houston most of her adult life. She is married with two grown children. She graduated from the University of TX at Austin and Baylor College of Medicine. After medical school, she completed her internship and residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and then returned to Houston to complete a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of TX at Houston Medical School. Upon completing her fellowship, she furthered her education and completed psychodynamic psychotherapy training at the Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Institute. She was volunteer faculty at the University of TX at Houston Medical School and taught a clinical case conference there. She was also volunteer faculty for Baylor College of Medicine and supervised residents at community mental health clinics.
