Claire Hill is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who earned her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. As a PMHNP, Claire’s primary goal is to develop a collaborative relationship with her patients, where they are able to strive for wellness, and not just the absence of illness. Claire’s primary focus is brief psychotherapy and medication management, and from the initial evaluation, she employs a shared decision-making model of care and encourages active involvement in creating a treatment plan.
Claire’s training and previous work experience include both in-patient and out-patient mental health settings, as well as forensic nursing with Austin’s SAFE Alliance. Her extensive work with survivors of sexual assault and abuse has created an understanding of the lasting impact trauma may have on a person, leading to anxiety or mood disorders, behavioral issues, or attention and learning challenges. It can make having healthy, safe relationships difficult. Through therapy and pharmacotherapy, it is possible to find healing -- which Claire is committed to achieving with all her patients. She is dedicated to decreasing the stigma and increasing access to mental healthcare for all people who need it.
