Jim has been a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas since 1995, having graduated from the marriage and family therapy program at the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a Masters degree in Behavioral Sciences, during which he completed a 13 month externship with the Veterans Administration Medical Center's Family Therapy Program in 1992-1993.
Jim has worked in myriad venues, including for TDCJ-ID, numerous hospitals in Harris and surrounding counties, as well as residential treatment centers, partial hospitalization programs and outpatient clinics. He was a Licensed Psychological Associate as well from 2004-2014, during which he completed over 15,000 psychological evaluations for disability and vocational rehabilitation applicants.
Jim works with couples, men's issues, family therapy, grief therapy, depression, self-esteem, mood disorders, anxiety, anger problems, family of origin issues, and teens and children. He has a collaborative approach to therapy that is person centered and holistic, incorporating the client's values into the solutions sought.
