I completed my Adult Psychiatry at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in
Miami, FL and subsequently Board certified in Adult Psychiatry with the American Board of
Psychiatry and Neurology.
Following my basic medical training out of India, I practiced Psychiatry in the BritishWest Indies
for some time before I came to the USA in 1991.
I believe “Practicing Psychiatry is an art and science mediated by compassion, understanding, and integrity” and I have been following this principle throughout my career. I worked in various
settings such as inpatient, outpatient, community mental health, assertive community treatment
center, Partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient as well as a student health center in Florida
State University. I also actively participated in teaching Psychiatry to Medical students and
Advanced Nurse Practitioners assigned to various universities in the state of Florida.
My approach to mental health services involves the” Bio-Psycho-social model” combined with
thorough evaluation, collecting collateral history from family and significant others, as well as
obtaining appropriate laboratory and psychological testing if needed. I also encourage
participation of friends and family members via Family sessions in order to maximize the

Psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Relaxation Training, InterpersonalTherapy,
Supportive Therapy and Group Therapy.
I have a special interest in treating Mood & Anxiety disorders, chronic Mental disorders, and ADHD
in both adults and Children
