Hello, my name is Samantha Jones, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I graduated from Texas State University-San Marcos in 2013 with my bachelor’s degree in Social Work and continued my education journey and completed my MSW graduate degree in 2015 from my alma mater. I have over ten years of experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds including clients in medical, hospice, community-based, and group settings. Before working with LifeStance Health, I worked as a therapist for an Intensive Outpatient Program for over four years with older adults and adults with a senior lifestyle experiencing depression, anxiety, grief/loss, and other life transitions related to Aging. There, my duties included group therapy, treatment planning, discharge planning, and case management.
I understand that an essential part of establishing the client-therapist relationship begins with fostering trust. I encourage vulnerability and offer a warm, empathetic, open, and non-judgmental environment with the hope to create a space of safety and collaborative healing. My clinical approach is a combination of different evidence-based theories and practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and some of the core principles of DBT to include Mindfulness and Emotional Regulation. I aim to work with each client to have a fluid, client-centered treatment plan catered to fit each individual's needs for their unique goals. Using a Strengths-Based approach, I remain centered around the client's personal experiences while respecting, validating, and considering their personal history. While working together, I often incorporate attachment theory to help the client explore how their relationship with their primary caregivers plays a role in their relationship with themselves and others. My special interests include Aging, assisting my clients in feeling empowered in developing assertive communication skills, forming healthy boundaries with others and themselves, Life-Transitions, Life-Stressors, Self-Esteem, Anxiety, and Depression. While working with older adults has been my passion, I know and have seen that anyone can benefit from the power of therapy, no matter their age. I would also like to acknowledge the uniquely challenging times our society has been experiencing collectively and lovingly open and hold the space for BIPOC to feel safe, seen, and heard. Whether you are looking for a source of support, a listening ear, or want to hone in on new skills for your own personal development, I am here to assist you on your journey of healing and self-discovery.
