About Sarah Gatumu, MD

Dr. Gatumu is originally from Kenya where she did her medical school training and worked several years before coming to USA which has been her home for the past 23 years.

She completed her Psychiatry residency in Western Psychitric Institute and Clinic and Child Adolescent fellowship in Allegheny General hospital both in Pittsburgh PA. She has been in practice in various settings including inpatient, out patient ,alternative school setting and drug & alcohol rehabilitation facilities in Pennsylvania since 2006.

I am triple boarded in Child Adolescent and Adult psychiatry as well as Addiction medicine. I enjoy working with children ages 4-17 as well as adults. I cover all psychiatric diagnoses ADHD, anxiety, major depression, bipolar schizophrenia, eating disorders and addiction medicine , opiate dependence among others.
I also address functional psychiatry addressing underlying vitamin and micronutrient deficiencies that If not addressed could be responsible for perpetuation of or lack of adequate response of mental illnesses to the various treatment modalities available currently.

When I am not working, I enjoy time hiking , reading, traveling, going to the beach, spending time with friends & family and working with various underprivileged people through our church.
